Chronic Fatigue/ME

CFS – Chronic Fatigue Syndrome can affect people of any age. However, it’s most common between the ages of 25 and 45.

It Is estimated that about 150,000 people in the UK have CFS, with women affected more often than men. M.E. mainly affects the muscles and the head, with muscle symptoms including severe fatigue after any exercise, pain and spasms, poor memory and concentration and poor balance. Sore throats, enlarged glands, joint pain and depression are included amongst the many symptoms.

M.E. sufferers experience fatigue which is completely different from normal tiredness that most of us have experienced. They feel totally drained of energy and exercise might even make things worse. Any physical activity – even walking up or down stairs – may put some M.E. sufferers in bed for days or weeks, and even cause a major relapse.

Physiotherapy, with specific programmes including relaxation therapy and graded exercise can help this condition.
